Every year as winter wears on I begin to look ahead to the next winter. Why? Because winter items go on sale at deep discounts as stores clear out inventory to re-stock shelves with spring/summer collections. So, if there are pieces I've been eyeing all season that will be current for next winter, I buy them now, much cheaper; I'll also consider purchases of pieces similar to those on trend for the next season.
I looked through the Pre Fall 2012 collections to bring to you what's enduring and trending. That is, what you may want to consider adding to or keeping handy in your closet for the next fall/winter season. I also chose one item from each category as a good buy based on wearability. That is, I think you will find most use out of each pick, season after season. Therefore, they will provide the most bang for your buck. You'll find a green check mark next to each pick.
To be clear, I am not suggesting that you follow every trend. I don't. I believe a woman's dress should embody her personal style. Trends are to be incorporated into one's wardrobe if they suit your style and budget. They are suggestions that add freshness, but are not by any means the rules by which you must dress. Otherwise, if you let trends rule your look and thoughts behind it, who are you?
Everything pictured below is inspired by Pre Fall collections, but available in stores now, save the Burberry Prorsum bag, which is my pick for the "bag" category. To see item pages or purchase the items please see the links at the bottom of this post.
